Active Travel

The unique location of the guest houses make it the perfect place for active and adventure travel.  Biking, hiking and kayaking are within walking distance of our front steps.

Biking & Hiking

We are a bike-friendly establishment!  The area is home to miles of country roads that wind their way through dense forests, farm lands, valleys and numerous inlets.  Our property is located one half mile from milepost 164 on the Pacific Coast Bike Route and milepost 20.5 on the Bainbridge Island - Port Townsend Bike Route.  We also have complimentary covered and lockable storage for your bikes adjacent to one of the houses.  For bike route information, see Your Guide to Bed, Breakfast and Biking

For those that prefer off-road biking, Port Gamble has an extensive forest trail system that begins right across the street.  And with the majestic Olympic National Park and Olympic National Forest so close, it's no wonder so many bikers and hikers choose the Guest Houses as their preferred place to stay.

Kayaking

The guest houses are located one half mile from Salsbury Point, a stop (and free boat launch) along the Cascadia Marine Trail.  However, guests can launch from our private beach and explore the Port Gamble mill site, paddle the Hood Canal or follow the coast north through the islands of Puget Sound.  There are no limits to how far you can go here.  For more information on kayaking in the area, we suggest Kayak Routes of the Pacific Northwest Coast or Paddle Routes of Western Washington: 50 Flatwater Trips for Canoe and Kayak and, of course, the 2008 Tide Tables.
