Out & About
The Guest Houses are uniquely situated in the middle of Puget Sound, at the north end of the Kitsap Peninsula, just east of the Olympic Peninsula and just west of the mainland (Seattle).  What does this mean?  We're in the middle of it all - hiking, biking, restaurants, sightseeing, shopping, small towns, lighthouses, you name it!  This information is just a small taste of what's possible within an hour's drive.

PORT GAMBLE -- On a typical day, some 6,500 cars breeze by this historic mill town on their way to the Hood Canal Bridge, not realizing they're passing up one of the prettiest, best-preserved little main streets in Western Washington.

If you haven't parked and poked around in the past few years -- or ever -- now is a great time to visit, because Port Gamble is enjoying a renaissance.

Olympic Peninsula - Hwy 101

With its ancient temperate rainforests and jagged mountains, the Olympic Peninsula is a short drive away.  At just one mile from the Guest Houses, the Hood Canal Bridge (a floating bridge that spans the canal) serves as a gateway to this vast and beautiful wilderness paradise.  Crossing the bridge is a scenic journey in an of itself with in your face views of the snow-capped peaks to Hood Head to the north.

Easy Scenic Tour

We recently had guests visiting from out of town and decided to take them over to the Olympic Peninsula.  Since we were limited on time, we opted for a picnic and three locations:  Falls View Canyon (campground), Mount Walker and Rocky Brook Falls.  All three of these sites offer visitors a peek at the natural beauty we are fortunate enough to have around us.  The amount of walking is minimal and the vehicle access is very easy.  So on this stunningly clear day we set out from the guest houses with our box lunches from Little City Catering on SR104.
